Baker School District 5J is made up of six elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one innovative high school. These schools serve a population of approximately 1700 students. In addition to these schools, Baker School District 5J sponsors three charter schools: Baker Web Academy, Baker Early College, and Oregon International School. Baker School District also includes Baker Technical Institute, a Career and Technical program which partners with regional employers and industry experts to provide an innovative education in hands-on fields.
Baker City has a population of approximately 10,000 and is located about 300 miles east of Portland, Oregon, and about 120 miles northwest of Boise, Idaho, along the historic Oregon Trail. The city was established in 1874, sits at an elevation of 3,471 feet, and has an average annual precipitation of 10.63 inches. Historic Baker City is located in Baker County; the Baker School District is the largest of three rural school districts in the County.
